Perfect
Situation...
Here's
a photo that someone sent me of two Joanna Dark models, apparently
from a Perfect Dark Zero promo event in Japan. [view larger image

December
17, 2007. The last day I thought you would post a new update
for your site. I checked the site the passing months to no
avail, until today, April 23, 2008, I see the newest edition
of your site when I had just about given up seeing your site
anymore, thinking you just left your loyal fans with nothing
to hope from the site.
I still own an N64 and play Goldeneye 007 from
time to time, and hope to sell the entire bundle of games
and the system when prices for it go up higher than a pokemon
fan on crack the day before a new pokemon game is released.
I just wanted to welcome you back and ask you one question,
what were you doing over your break of nearly 4 months?
|
It's
quite a coincidence that you decided to check the site on the
same day as I decided to return. I just felt that a break was
necessary to recharge before tacking any new Detstar-related
projects. Although I've pretty much retired from gaming, I still
own all of my old systems. Sometime in the future, I'll probably
have an itch to play Goldeneye, Smash, or F-Zero GX.
I
was updating at a rather heavy pace when I took a break for
the holidays, and weeks quickly turn into months. On my break,
I've been learning a foreign language, training a new attack
dog, as well as attempting to improve my drawing skills. (I
use my left hand to work with the dog) |

Hiya
Det! I'm one of your many(?) fans, and I was wondering, if your
done with the game sites, could you maybe
put up the Perfect Dark pages? Me and my friends are
stuck on PD, and we really need your help! Come on, dude, consider
it your last piece of gaming work on Detstar.
Time
is truly an enemy, and the Perfect Dark site is a hellish a project
that I'm not willing to tackle.
You're probably already aware of the technical details surrounding
the site's demise, but I'm not sure if you've seen the archived
pages located here: http://web.archive.org/web/20060113220719/http://perfectdark.detstar.com/
It's a far cry from what the site used to be, but it's the next
best thing.
|
I have enjoyed your site and the comics you've made, but now, it's
always the same thing. You haven't updated in a VERY long time. The
last time you updated your site was right before Christmas. I'm getting
irritated of viewing the same things. I have some suggestions that
will keep the site shiny and new:
1. Super Smash Bros Brawl. You made a small section
of it before its release. Now that it's out in stores, maybe you can
buy the game for the Wii (if you have one) and make a whole site of
it with tips, strategies, and all that stuff. If you can do it for
Melee, maybe you can do it for Brawl.
2. More Dexter Comics. We all love Dexter, Marley, Pete,
and the rest of the gang. They're the best!
I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to be rude. I'm not trying to rush you.
I just want to see detstar.com alive. If those ideas help, thank me.
For now, I'll keep checking the usual stuff on the site. Thanks!
Have a look at this page for
an explanation on the gamesites: http://www.detstar.com/00/endofanera.cfm
As for Dexter and his buddies, more episodes are on their way. I agree
that it's been a ridiculous amount of time between updates, but time
just seems to slip away faster and faster. I've been practicing my
drawing skills and writing potential new episodes, so you can expect
to see more episodes before the end of the year (probably sooner).
BTW, I don't think your message was rude at all... In fact, it was
rather polite compared to some of the angry messages I've been receiving
lately. Thanks for being a fan of the site. |
I
just went to your page today after many years of not coming
to this site. I found a bookmark page that I had saved from
years ago and was checking out old links I had saved. I was
very happy to see that the Goldeneye page was
still up and running. I loved how much information was on that
section of your site and it still is, to this day, the best
Goldeneye page on the internet, period. I did see though, the
information for Perfect Dark is no longer available.
Perfect Dark, in my opinion, was the greatest game on the N64
and possible the greatest game of it's time. If Rare would remake
the game with today's touches, it would still be better than
any FPS out there. If you're like me, PDZ was a let down.
But anyways, I did notice that you said something about putting
the Perfect Dark files on a disk possibly and distributing them.
I wanted to let you know that I'm 100% all for that and would
love to get a copy if you're willing. I can't believe it's been
9 years, wow, we're all old now. It's hard to believe that kids
of today are growing up on Gears of War and Call of Duty and
have no idea what greatness was before them. I keep rambling,
sorry about that, so many memories come back.
So back to the point, I'd love to get a disk with the perfect
dark information on it and even the goldeneye pages as well.
If you could get back to me and let me know if you can get me
a disk or not, that would be EXTREMELY appreciated! I loved
those games so much and I'm so glad that 9 years later your
site is still up and running. Keep up the good work and thanks
for all your hard work!
There are still lots of hardcore PD fans out there, and I've
had a bunch of requests for the PD site on CD. I had considered
combining the Goldeneye AND Perfect Dark material onto a CD,
but the sheer workload in converting every single page is pretty
discouraging. Not to mention the logistics of physically mailing
it out to everyone... |
Hey
Mr.Detstar, I wanted to point out that in your F-Zero
GX section, your 'Interesting Stuff' page never works,
just wanted to point that out.
I fixed the page... Both "stuff" pages, actually.
Weird.
Thanks for showing me. |
Good
to see you finally upgraded the page and made another Dexter
Comics episode. You should really make more eps more often,
they are really funny. Nice new pic of Candi Starr too. Planning to
make anymore of those Candi pics anytime soon?
Glad you enjoyed the recent update. I'm also
glad to be back. Summer's practically here, and I hope to make as
many new episodes as possible. And everybody loves Candi... Including
her soccer coach, her teachers, even the town cops. We'll definitely
be seeing more of her in the near future. |
hey
I have something for Goldeneye 007! I think it should
be added to Interesting stuff. Ok here is how to do it:turn on DK
mode and go to cradle. Finish the level and watch the cut scene.Look
in the cock-pit and Natalya has no big head unlike you. You can do
this on any difficulty. Do think it is good enough? Please tell me!!!!
I've never thought about
checking this before, but I'm not surprised... The "Natalya"
character model seems to be physically "attached" to the
helicopter. She's not animated, you can't shoot her, etc, so I guess
the DK mode cheat doesn't have any effect her. |
Hahahahaha.
Dexter's so evil. I agree with you, Romney is ball-less. [Dexter
Comics Episode 128]
If he's gonna pretend to be a hunter, he's not fit for the title "president".
anyway, good job, Det.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the episode. It's one of my favorites from
this season. Since then, Mitt Romney has dropped out of the election
race, which I was glad to see... We don't need another moron for President.
(To Romney's credit, he is smarter than Dubya)
Politicians seem to stoop to a brand new low every time there's an
election. I suppose they're just as dishonest as they always were,
but it's more obvious today than it ever was. Today's public officials
are completely and totally shameless, willing to say and do almost
anything if they think it'll get them a few votes.
A few web comic episodes won't change anything... But it's still fun
to take a few shots. :) |
