Mailbag
Ah, the joys of answering e-mail. Actually,
I wouldn't wish this task on my worst enemy. So many questions, so little
time... I do answer as many e-mails as I have time for though, and I've
posted a few of them below.

Mixing
It Up...
Lots of random questions here, from all over the gaming network.
Curious questions and critical comments... All of it ends up in
my mailbox, and I reply to as much as I have time for. I personally
go through all the mail I receive, and take many thoughts into consideration
- So don't feel as if your efforts are wasted just because you don't
get a reply. If you have questions, I'll try to provide answers:

Since
you cover TimeSplitters 2 and TimeSplitters:
Future Perfect, do you have any intention of making
a TimeSplitters 1 site?
Even though some players might enjoy
some coverage from the original TimeSplitters game, most fans
of the series are heavily into the newly released FuturePerfect.
TS2 was the first game in the series to catch my attention,
so that's when the coverage started. And since it takes a
lot of time and effort to put create pages and features, it's
much more worthwhile for me to post new content for the newer
games.

If you won the lottery, would you quit
your job and put all your efforts into this website?
I bet that most people have considered how their lives could change
after winning a large sum of money... Personally, I can see myself
relaxing on a nice quiet island, with beautiful scenery, and loud
music... (although the blaring music would kill the whole "quiet island"
atmosphere, this is my fantasy and I can do whatever I feel like)
With this newfound freedom, I'd be able to spend more quality time
working on Detstar, covering even more games, with even more depth.
Other gamers could also be hired to create articles and feature pages...
And with some solid financial backing, a Detstar Magazine could even
go into circulation...

you
should make a video of the spiky shell dodging trick in Mario
Kart Double Dash so we can have a good idea of how to do it.
This nifty little
maneuver has saved my ass a couple times. A video was recorded a while
back, and it was one of the first videos posted in the Members Section.
It's a quick clip, so it's not a heavy download... But it wouldn't
be fair to let everyone download something that was originally added
for Members only.

Okay, Det. I'm a 13-year-old fan of your website and a BIG video game
player(i've played video games since I was 5). And let's say that you opened
multiple sites with your members hosting each one. Your ratings could have a
high chance of sky rocketing. Sure you may need more fundings to support
this idea, but hell, why not? You'll have a rough start, but in the end,
you'll get it. This could benefit you AND your will find pretty pleasant.
Also, if you take the time to get off of your ass and buy more systems
you'll be more successful. Hey! I'm 13, and I have every game system from
NES to PSP (If not more). Well, see ya', and good luck. This may be your
chance.
It's nice to hear that a fan has such optimistic
thoughts for the evolution of the website. Unfortunately, the situation
isn't as simple as it seems on the surface.
Although expanding the website to cover a wider variety of games
may seem like a great idea, it's something that would take more
than a bit of extra funding... It would take a small fortune, on
top of the heavy hosting requirements for the several games that
are already covered here.
The concept of new sections being managed and hosted by members/visitors
works in theory... But sadly, most people quickly grow tired of
creating pages and putting together articles, because it's a lot
more work than many people realize.
It's nice of you to suggest that I need to "get off my ass and buy
more systems"... But as you surely are aware, video game systems
and the games to go with them are certainly not free... (If you're
13 and have every game, you must already have a full time job -
Either that, or you're an up-and-coming young businessman in the
black market).
Other gaming systems aside, I receive many requests to create gamesites
for other GameCube games. Although I shell out a lot of money to
buy gas and pay for other expenses, I could probably afford to by
a couple extra games here and there (I'll just stop eating lunch
for a few weeks)... But without having the spare time to really
enjoy the stuff, it wouldn't be worth it. I barely seem to have
enough "fun-time" with my GameCube as it is, so buying more systems
and even more games wouldn't accomplish much.

On
the back of my GameCube box there's a picture of a game called Donkey
Kong Racing. Is this game ever going to be out so we can play
it?
Every once in a while, there's a scheduled
game that never does make it to the store shelves... It appears
as if Donkey Kong Racing has fallen into this category. I have heard
absolutely nothing new about this game, and given the fact that
Nintendo and Rareware are no longer working together, it seems like
this game will never happen.
We can only imagine what this game would have been like... Diddy
Kong Racing was a big hit for the N64, and they surely hoped to
surpass the accomplishments of that game.
In this screenshot from "Donkey Kong Racing", we see Expresso the
ostrich, a character we haven't seen since the original Donkey Kong
Country... Other
screenshots from this game showed Rambi the Rhino, Enguarde the
Swordfish, Zinger the Wasp, and even Taj from Diddy Kong Racing...
In addition
to the severed partnership between Nintendo and Rareware, another
complication comes into play - The legal rights to the characters
from Rareware's world of Donkey Kong Country.
Although Nintendo still retains the rights to Donkey Kong and Diddy
Kong, I believe that many DKC characters belong to Rareware because
they created them independently... So without being able to create
a cool DKC atmosphere, a Donkey Kong Racing game would probably
feel like it was missing something..,

I
think you should take Dexter Comics national! Just find a magazine
that will publish the material un-edited and for a little cost to
you.
It would be awesome to have the episodes
published in a magazine. The boys of Hellford could start appearing
in print everywhere... But as I'm already stuck with enough expenses,
paying for the Comics would just be another monthly bill to deal
with...
I'd love to receive a publishing offer, but having the episodes
published completely unedited is the only way to go. Censorship
manages to destroy practically every creative work of art on this
planet. It doesn't matter if it's music, if it's a movie or your
favorite TV show... Whenever certain parts of a presentation are
edited, it transforms the artists' original creation into a softer,
weaker product.

you are
getting behind on updates. you said mondays.
Yes, I know...
Some visitors wait patiently to see a shiny new update on Monday
morning. Several months ago, I made the comment about Monday becoming
the unofficial day of the weeks for updates... But because it takes
15-20 hours to put together each update, it's like having a part
time job. So during a busy week, there's no other option but to
delay the new stuff until it's ready. Simple as that.

My
friend believes that Mew is in Super Smash Bros Melee.
Please say if he is or not (I know he isn't) so I can prove that
either my friend lied, or he is a big idiot!
Mew certainly
is in the game... But not as a playable character. After you unlock
everything, Mew will stand a rare chance of appearing when you throw
a Pokéball.

You
know in Goldeneye 007 when you complete Egyptian?
You don't think the baron kills Bond, do you...?
James Bond uses the Golden Gun to drop
Baron Samedi three times... But during the level outro movie scene,
Baron Samedi can be seen chasing James Bond and laughing at him.
I don't think that we're meant to believe that the Baron kills 007...
It just seems to illustrate Baron Samedi's apparent immortality,
as the sorcerer managed to come back from the dead in the movie
Live and Let Die.
