In the Goldeneye 007 "screenshot gallery", are the pictures of the dam level with all the weird objectives real? And if so, what's the code to get them?

I suppose it all depends on your definition of "real". But in most cases, the shots aren't actually what they seem to be... Combinations of different Gameshark codes used together, along with creative camera angles and situations make for screenshots that look quite believable. Many of the codes used to make those screenshots are actually found right on the Goldeneye website.

What is there a blank space on the item setup screen for Super Smash Bros Melee? It's like the blank cheat slot from Goldeneye. Is there a secret item or something?

There aren't any hidden items that I'm aware of. It seems as if they simply had an odd number of weapons, which leaves a blank space when the names are displayed in the two columns.

I was reading the thing about Goldeneye 007 in the Train car with Natalya and Trevelyan. I made it back there once, and I got to the locked door. Have you ever went to the last car and followed Trevelyan an Xenia? If you have where do they go? Thanks

Trevelyan and Xenia don't actually go anywhere... According to the story, they escape from a helicopter hidden on the train. But the character models themselves aren't programmed to physically leave the train, since we're not actually supposed to see how they get away. I managed to get back to that area in time and see the two characters literally disappear with my own eyes. They just pop out of existence.

In Perfect Dark, I know there's a symbol for each organization (i.e. daytadyne's "dD" and the Skedar's marijuana leaf) but what it the symbol for the Maians?

I don't believe that the Maians have a symbol... At least not one that we know of, anyway. We don't visit their planet in the game, and get to see very little of their technology. I don't remember noticing any unique symbols on the flying saucer either.
You're the first person to suggest that the Skedar flag looks like a pot leaf though - Perhaps the programmers were in a very 'creative' state of mind when they were designing the Skedar homeworld...

In your Weight/Speed/Jump categories for Super Smash Bros Melee, you include every character except Sheik. In my opinion, he/she is just as important as all the other characters. If you have done this purposely, please let me know why.

Sheik was simply overlooked when I created that section. I spent hours analyzing all of the characters, and comparing their strengths and abilities against one another. It completely slipped my mind to transform into Sheik while I was testing Zelda. After I was finished, I noticed that I had missed Zelda's alter ego... But my brain was starting to hurt, and I didn't feel up to testing Sheik.

I really should go back and add him, but it's yet another one of those dozens of tiny little things that take a backseat to the website's new articles and sections, which are the priorities.

Hi, I was wondering about Goldeneye 007, and the dot or period at the end of your weapon inventory after you kill the General in the Silo? it just a "."

That little dot in your inventory represents Ourumov's key. If you manage to shoot and kill General Ourumov, you'll be able to collect both his briefcase and key. The strange thing about these two items, is that neither one of them serves any real purpose in the final game.

The key can be used to open the roof of one of the missile silos though. Check out the mysteries section, and have a look at solved mysteries 12 and 13. Both of these mysteries involve this strange key:

Hey, just wondering do you know what that grey square on the wall is in Carrington's office in Perfect Dark?

That's actually something from Perfect Agent difficulty. When playing the other two Agent levels, you don't need to complete this objective... But as a Perfect Agent, you'll need to destroy some sensitive information that's been hidden in Carrington's safe.

Of all the arenas in Super Smash Bros Melee, I'd just like to know which is your own personal favorite one?

Melee has plenty of great places for battle. But overall, I'd have to pick Final Destination. Sure It's a flat and boring arena... But without any obstacles or platforms to get in the way, battling in this arena becomes a true test of your fighting abilities.

Hey...I know that this is kind of late to ask you about, but on your Goldeneye 007 site, I was looking at your Gameshark Memory Editor section, and I wanna know how to access the Memory Editor. And i have a another question - Can I also do that with other games? Thanks bye

In order to get to the memory editor, you need to have a Gameshark Pro and an N64 Expansion Pak. Before starting your game, you need to make sure that the Code Generator is 'ON'. During gameplay, you press the GS Button to activate the Memory Editor. From there, you can locate and edit the text in the game. After learning and understanding how the game "thinks", you can also use the editor to hack some creative codes. And yes, you can do this with other games as well.

Hey Det man you've got a kickass group of websites here. Just out of curiosity, I was wondering what's Detstar's most popular website?

All of the individual websites score plenty of hits. Even the so called 'classic' gamesites for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are still getting lots of traffic. But the game that's currently receiving the most interest is Mario and the rest of the gang from Super Smash Bros Melee.

How do you unlock all of these secret characters in Super Smash Bros Melee?

This character select screen from the Melee submitted section
(submitted by DewLuigi2002) sure has caught itself a lot of attention. Unfortunately, you can't earn any of these extra characters. The screenshot is just a piece of artwork created using a graphics editing program... Microsoft Paint, I believe.

Imagine having a showdown between Joanna Dark and James Bond... Or even a match with Spider-Man against The Hulk.

In the FAQ page for Perfect Dark, you say that duel is opened after earning all gold medals in firing range when actually it's all bronze. Just something I thought you’d like to fix before some people play their brains out trying to get all gold.

Yes, you do only need to earn bronze medals to unlock The Duel. When I played it I just went straight to earning all golds, which is obviously enough to open The Duel. Since I earned all gold, the Duel was automatically unlocked. (My brain almost did fall out, but luckily I was wearing a hat...) I just assumed you needed gold, because it seemed like the most logical requirement to unlock the game's hidden bonus mission.

First, you guys have the best coverage of any game, which makes Detstar my choice for information, cheats, ect. Anyway, this is about a picture you have posted on the multiplayer part of the Goldeneye 007 site. There's Sean Connery's white tuxedo that's not in the game anymore, but the scientist uniform really looks like Connery's tux. The two suits look almost exactly alike. Can you e-mail me with info on this? Thank you for time.

Both suits do look similar, but they're not the same. It's hard to get a good look at the white tuxedo from all of these pre-release screenshots because they're so small. If you look closely in the watch screenshot of Connery, you should be able to notice a black bowtie. That famous Bond suit was designed to match the one that Sean Connery wore in the movie Goldfinger. The labcoats worn by the scientists do have a resemblance to the white tuxedo though. Sean Connery's tux has a red corsage on it, while the scientist uniform has a red pen in that spot.

How come Marth and Roy are such popular characters in Super Smash Bros Melee? They're just boring characters, and all of their moves look the same.

Instead of using kicks punches like most fighters, Marth and Roy are skilled swordsmen. All of their attacks somehow involve their swords. You may not notice it at first, but each sword attack is unique. The swinging motions are different for every move, and learning which sword swing to use for every situation is the key. In addition to their impressive sword swinging abilities, they also possess very good speed and power.

Hey I heard that you can unlock Toad in Super Smash Bros Melee by hitting all the credits that come up after you beat classic mode, then after that to finish adventure mode with any character any lives and any difficulty without using any continues and then you should battle Toad. Is this true? Send me you answer.

Ah yes... I've seen that website featuring the rumor about unlocking Toad by shooting all of the credits that appear when you beat the game. The screenshots are rather impressive, but unfortunately Toad is not a playable character. That person just created some very convincing fake screenshots as 'proof' of his bogus rumor.

I went to your fan fiction section and all the fan fictions are about Perfect Dark! Where are all the Goldeneye and Smash Bros fan fics?

That's just the way it happened, I guess. People have only submitted new storylines for Perfect Dark, and no other games. It could be because Goldeneye is 'set' in its ways... Since it was based on a movie, the story is already complete. But since Perfect Dark was a new concept, it allows more room to work with, making it easier to write a fan fiction story. As for the world of Melee, I would personally find it awkward to write a story there... The characters all come from a diverse background of game genres, so it could be tricky to mingle them together in a story that actually makes sense.

DetErest, that darned thing in Super Smash Bros Melee about Daisy's third eye on her trophy is a typo!I looked on my Daisy trophy and she has no third eye on her.

It seems as if some people have a really hard time getting this glitch to work. I assure you that it's not a typo, and that Daisy's third eye is real - At least on my copy of the game, anyway...
Players who own newer copies of the game can't seem to pull off this glitch, possibly because this error may have been fixed in later versions of the game. I bought my copy of SSBM a few months after the game was released. It's a bit awkward to actually see the third eye, because you need to be looking at the perfect angle for it to be visible.

Please don't shoot me for saying this... But why do people still play Goldeneye 007? I know it was a good game and everything, but isn't it kinda getting old by now?

Despite Goldeneye's age, the game is still incredibly popular. The graphics aren't nearly as good as in the games we have today, but Goldeneye delivers solid gameplay, and it's a really awesome experience. In fact, some people are just now picking up the game for the first time, and are sure to have just as much fun as the rest of us once had. Just because a game is 'old', it doesn't mean it can't be great. Flashy graphics and movie scenes don't even compare to the incredible replay value held inside every copy of Goldeneye 007.

Whoa... According to my e-mail you sent that info to me at 4:00 in the morning! Don't you ever go to sleep?

My not need sleep.... My... feel... fine....
I'll just go... to in the kitchen... and eat a coffe then pour myself a donut....

Dude, thanks for the helpful info on getting the secret characters in Super Smash Bros Melee. I wish I had come here earlier, because this other web site I went to gave me fraud and crappy information. Plus I like how you have the pictures next to their names so you know who you're getting. Thanks for the easy, and quickly findable information.

You're welcome. The gamesites on Detstar.com are meant to be detailed guides through each of the games, with the goal of helping players like yourself. It takes an incredible amount of time and effort to put this stuff together, and it's great to hear that people enjoy visiting.
