Mailbag
Ah, the joys of answering e-mail. Actually,
I wouldn't wish this task on my worst enemy. So many questions, so little
time... I do answer as many e-mails as I have time for though, and I've
posted a few of them below.

Madness...
It's once again time to sift through my mailbox, and post
a collection of mail fron fans, and some mail from a few people
who hate my guts... I haven't posted much mail from the latter group,
so let's begin with the first group, shall we?
If you have a question that you'd like to see answered on the website,

I
have a conflict with my friend. He thinks Sheik is a boy.
All my other friends think Sheik is a girl. So i decided to
also get your expert opinion. Boy or girl?
It's
a very good debate, that's for sure. Whenever Zelda uses her
magical abilities to transform into Sheik, she's still Zelda
even though the body is obviously male...
Although Sheik is nimble and quick, the character does appear
to be rather tough and strong... Sheik can pass for a dude,
and when we first met the character, everyone assumed that's
what he was... This deception led our minds to accept Sheik
as being a male character, until we learn his true identity.
So for this reason, I'd personally have to say that Sheik
is a guy, even though I know that many people will disagree.
But just keep in mind; I'm referring to "Sheik" as he appears
in front of us, and that "he" is only a magical illusion created
by Princess Zelda. So I don't think it's wrong to call Sheik
a girl either. Nintendo's documentation does refer to Sheik
as a her - So officially, it's mind over body.

I
just wanna say that your site is awsome...I never thought
that the Rare team put SOO much to be un-noticed by..."amateur-gamers"
unlike me...
As for you, What do you do else in life except for playing
games? Unless...you're not...human?
Yes,
Rare certainly does an amazing job when putting cool details
into their games. It was all the neat things in Goldeneye
that really drew me into all of this stuff.
Contrary to popular belief, being the webmaster of a video
game website leaves very little time to actually spend playing
video games. As for the rest of my life, I sure don't have
much of one. Just going to work, spending countless hours
plugging away in front of a computer, where I slowly begin
to believe that I truly am one of those machines. There are
times when I believe that I'm no longer human anymore... Then,
my stomach growls to remind me that I haven't eaten in almost
two days.
I do play
a lot of sports though, and can play for hours without stopping...
Which is even more evidence that I might be turning into a
machine. I probably should seek some professional help, but
what's the fun in that? Going crazy is a bit of an adventure
in itself... Plus, I'd rather spend my money on food and gas
instead of wasting it on an expensive shrink...

Why
don't we see Candi anymore in your Comics? If she
isn't used anymore, you should take her down from the characters
at the top of the page. She's an interesting character. I think
you should put her in some more episodes of the Dexter Comics.
Candi disappeared for a little while, while
the story was revolving around Pete and his buddies having a great
time with all their mischevious acts of theft and violence... But
Pete was able to see Candi once before the end of summer, and she's
just now returning as a regular character, along with another surprise
visitor...

I remember a section on your Goldeneye
site that would let you look at real life Goldeneye weapons, but now I can't
seem to find it. Was it removed, or is it still there? Please post this,
and/or respond. thanks.
The page that compared
weapons in Goldeneye 007 to their real life counterparts was removed from
the website quite some time ago. The reason for their removal was that I
wasn't sure who owned the copyrights for most of those photographs. And
since I don't own most of those weapons, I'm unable to snap my own pictures...
i
got a question about something ive heard. my nintendo official guide
of Super Smash Bros Melee says that there is a ditto
pokemon and it transforms into your player character and helps u fight
is this true?
When playing
the gamer normally, I don't believe it's possible to make Ditto appear...
The fact that he's mentioned in the official strategy guide suggests
that he was removed shortly before the game was released.
You can use Action Replay codes to retrieve Ditto, and make him appear
from a Pokéball... However he doesn't attack - He just shows
up for a second or two, and then disappears. |
If you zoom in on Peach while playing
SSBM, you can see that she has a ring on her finger.
Does this mean that she married Mario??
That's a neat
detail that I never noticed before... Just like any royal family,
I'm sure the Mushroom Kingdom is rich with scandalous affairs... But
as far as we've been shown, Mario and Peach aren't a couple. But at
the same time, we certainly haven't seen anything that proves that
they're not involved... But I'd be more likely to think that Nintendo's
intention with the ring was merely for style. |
Is
there any possible way to use any of the classic Goldeneye 007 weapons
in Perfect Dark's multiplayer?
p.s. your site is the best website
ever.
Conveniently,
Rareware "forgot" to include the classic weapons for Perfect
Dark's multiplayer... But that's only while playing the game normally.
With Gameshark codes, you can bring back some of your old favorites,
and terrorize the computer players with "outdated" weapons
that are still highly effective. |

you havnt put any info in fer more than
a month except for that toad was on the gay dialy show
The
Daily Show is about political humor, which appeals to a more intellectual
audience... Obviously,
someone who manages to make 3 spelling mistakes in a single sentence
would never understand just how much time and effort it takes to put
together a single update for this website... Nor could they possibly
comprehend any of the cutting remarks made by Jon Stewart. |
Hey
det nice site, originally it was the F-Zero content
that got me attached to your site, and i love the interesting stuff
pages on all the games, and ive got another little thing to add. Just
a few days ago i was playing lylat wars (starfox 64) and during the
intro to the first mission fox says over the radio "check your
g-diffuser systems". now me being a nerd and read through the
f-zero gx instruction manual several times, it says that that f-zero
machines have a g-diffuser system to keep the afloat. Another shared
bit of data between starfox and f-zero.
In addition to
the name James McCloud being lent from one game to another, Nintendo
also made sure to mention that these insanely fast machines require
a G-diffuser system... With a crazy ride like that though, they really
should implement a system that helps keep your lunch in your belly. |
Dear Det,
How did you think of Detstar?
The creation
of this gaming domain happened because free-hosted websites were simply
no longer enough to support the growing content... But if you're asking
about the actual name "Detstar", it's one of the many little
things that gets explained when you go behind the scenes. |
hey i just wanted to tell you that you
can get toad (in Super Smash Bros Melee) cuz i got him!!!!
The real way to get him is first u have to... [Method
edited due to horrible inaccuracy] ... Then he should appear
to challenge you!! so u can get him!!!
Yeah, OK...
You wouldn't by any chance have access to a digital camera, would
you? Because coincidentally, every single person who claims to have
unlocked something unbelievable always has a unique excuse as to why
they're unable to snap a picture... What are the odds of that? |
|
Hey
I noticed some people that look like Mario fighting Luigi
(in Episode
85 of Dexter Comics) is that who they are?
Two kids that
look a bit like brothers can be seen battling it out while
waiting in line for some cake... Some gold coins are even
flying out from the scuffle. If I had to put money on it,
I'd say that the dude in the red shirt was gonna win...

I was wondering, why do people stil insist
on saying that Sonic and Tails are in Super Smash Brothers Melee?
I mean, after the discovery of the Debug menu, all the data from nearly
everything could be acsessed, so why arn't Sonic and Tails (and Toad
for that matter) in there? Because they don't exist in melee! I just
don't understand why they insist on saying they're in there. And If
Microsoft owns Rare, wouldn't that mean that we might see Donkey Kong
on the X-Box?
I'm always surprised by the number of people
who love to lie about what they've unlocked in their games... Coming
up with bogus stories about characters who simply cannot be unlocked
must just be a way for these people to make themselves feel special.
They seem to believe that by making these false claims, they might
be able to make other people jealous of them or something. Even solid
proof doesn't seem to be enough to shake these stubborn people...
Hopefully they'll learn some common sense before they die. If not,
we'll just have to speed up the process.
And although Miss
Dark's services have been sold to Microsoft, don't expect to see
Donkey Kong playing for Microsoft's team anytime soon... Even though
Rareware was responsible for the modern day rendition of Donkey
Kong, Nintendo still retains the rights to Donkey Kong and Diddy
Kong.
Dude, you're not alone, I saw Toad appear
on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart too, I was actually hoping
that it would stop on him, but I can only guess as to wtf he was doing
on the "Religion-o-matic" but it's probably "the religion
of Video games" or something like that.
Even though Toad's photo was used as one
of the possible choices that the "God-Machine" would land
on, I think it was just a joke... I can't actually picture the show
doing anything on the religion of Nintendo... Except of course for
making fun of some pale-faced gamer who hasn't seen the sun in seven
years... |
