You Have 2005 Unread Messages...
At the turn of the millennium, everyone was flippin' out about Y2K. The world didn't end, computers didn't take over, and people still continued to send e-mail. Six years later, I'm still receiving mail from people who visit the site, some of them being the same people who were visiting the website back in the 20th Century...

I try to reply to as many messages as I can provide relevant answers to. If you have something to say, send it to:

I wanted to tell you that Ditto isn't useless in Super Smash Bros Melee... I got my AR and made some experiments. Ditto DOES "attack" but it only affects you if you´re slow enough to stay near the pokeball in the 2 seconds that ditto shows up. I tried with bowser and if done correctly, you can reach about 50% damage.

Wow, that's a neat little trick. It's actually pretty hard to get someone to fall victim to Ditto's attack, because he only performs a short range punch. But now we know that Ditto isn't completely useless, because if he lands the punch, it hurts bigtime.

I've also had people claim that Goldeen (the flopping fish) can cause damage, but have yet to see it for myself. Does anyone out there have any specific details?

Why don't you talk about the short-cut in the first level of Perfect Dark, where you open the first door from the inside, go to the helipad, and jump down on the door, and run into where the walls intersect. I can't do it, but I saw someone do it in a speed run. I think it was the same guy, but he somehow beat the Chicago mission in like 16 seconds! without shortcuts!

That insane glitch in dataDyne Defection seems like such a longshot to figure out by accident. But how anyone ever managed to figure this out in the first place is a mystery. Some people are capable of doing amazing things with a controller in their hands.

In Super Smash Bros Melee with the Action Replay Debug Mode in Develop Mode, If you play as Peach and you press up on the D-Pad, her dress will completely disappear, and Peach fights In her underwear. If you play as Zelda, and you press up on the D-Pad, her dress will completely disappear, and she fights in her tights.

I've gotten a surprising amount of e-mail about this... This option was apparently used by the developers when testing the character models, to make sure that their legs bend and move in the right way, even when covered up by a dress.

For more debug screenshots, see SSBM Debug Page 3.

The Dexter Comics seem like they have the potential to go world wide. Have you ever considered that you could probably make a lot if you got a company to support you and publish them? Though the sons of bitches might make you censor out some of the crude humor.

Although most of the publishing world is uptight, some disturbed creators have managed to get an amount of questionable material into print...

Whenever a movie is butchered for a TV audience, all the sex, violence, and colorful language is removed. The movie is still the same, but it's missing the grit that makes it real.

Yo Det I was looking at your Goldeneye site and saw that you mentioned that you can get the tank in the dam. can you send me the gs cheat thanks. ps your site rox!

The screenshots that show the Tank cruising along across the top of the damn are among my favorites... It was done by using a Gameshark code to modify the green truck at the start of the mission. Instead of a military truck, these Gameshark codes will make the Tank appear in place of the truck:
801E8D37 002D

801E8D39 0020

The hard part, was maneuvering the tank onto the Dam itself. The narrow gate is just barely wide enough, and I had to attempt the feat about a dozen times to find the right angle. Once it was past the gate though, it was fun to get out into the open, and launch tank shells at soldiers guarding the towers.

Hey and thanks for making such a great site. It helped me out with a lot of things i didnt understand about SSBM. About the Sudden Death, I was playing with my brothers and none of us wanted to move. About 30 seconds into the sudden death, it started to rain bomb-ombs. Not the kind that you can pick up, the kind that as soon as they hit the ground the blow up. Unfortunately, we have been unable to see what happens afterward, because everytime we do it, one of us is hit by a bomb-omb.
Thanks for all the help you've given us.

The bombing during a Sudden Death match seems to be an effort by the game to break the stalemate... And to encourage one of the players to make a move BEFORE that event happens. I'm not sure if the game will throw out a different attack wave if the Bob-ombs fail to get you... The falling of Bob-ombs is so intense that the odds of surviving are slim to none...

Thanks. Without your Goldeneye site I might not have beaten the epygtian level.
I just have to beat Egypt on 00 agent, but it's to hard for me. Can you give me a different strategy?

Also, is there anyway I can get to the island WITHOUT using a gameshark? I would just buy one, no offense, but I don't believe in gamesharks.

1. Egypt on 00 Agent doesn't have to be that tricky. I speed around the place, because the longer it takes you to finish the mission, the faster you'll be mowed down by the endless legion of spawning guards. In close combat, you can shoot each one a couple times, then use the pillars as cover. I dash right for the Golden Gun, drop down and dash towards Samedi and take him out. Then, I whip around to confront him in the room where the mission began. Shoot him dead once more, then run to the final shootout locale to finish him off. Speed is the key, and it makes this 00 Agent mission not much harder than Agent.

2. To my knowledge, there isn't a known way to get to the Island without Gameshark/Action Replay codes. There's an invisible barrier that prevents you from passing through. Gameshark codes can be used disable restrictions like this. I'm always confused how people can choose not to believe in Gamesharks, don't believe in guns, or don't believe in Television... Especially when such concrete evidence of their usefulness is present.

It's one thing to use a Gameshark for cheating... But using a Gameshark to unlock all kinds of inaccessible extras is another story. Things like the old-Bond actor photos, the secret Island on the Dam, and the ability to modify characters and items were the main reasons that I bought a Gameshark. I had already completed the game, and unlocked everything that could be accomplished while playing the game "normally". But the hidden extras that were safely locked away in the game's memory were too tempting to resist.

Yo Det i have two questions for ya.
Who do u think will be in Smash Bros revolution?
And is there any other costumes or colors for giga bowser or the wire frames in Melee?
ps ur site rocks a lot of hell

1. The next Smash Bros game is apparently going to have a big selection of characters... I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Koopa Troopa or King Boo. Waluigi will probably be in it as well. I also think it's a safe bet that more Pokémon characters will be added as playable characters. I would expect additional Pokécharacters to be ones that did not appear as items in Melee, maybe Bulbasaur or Charmander.

2. Those character colors are used to tell the difference between players, and not necessarily for your own enjoyment... Although some of the costumes can be rather entertaining...
Because Giga Bowser and the Wireframes weren't intended to be playable characters, they're only available in one shade because they're always your enemies, eliminating the need for color...

In this screenshot, I've changed Giga Bowser and Zelda to Color #4 to see what would happen... And only Zelda has changed, while Giga Bowser remains the same.

I was wondering if there is any unused music in Goldeneye 007 that might be for the Citadel level.

Citadel appears to be a rough testing level, which doesn't necessarily mean that a soundtrack was even assigned to this arena. Still though, there is one particular track of music used randomly in Multiplayer that doesn't seem to belong to a particular level, and some people believe it to be "Citadel music".

I'd just like to say, the mario riding yoshi trophy IS unlockable in SSBM. I have mario sunshine guide book and in the back it says: when u have 290 trophies just plug in a memory card with mario sunshine and then u have it :D

I did play the game a few times, and have a save on my Memory Card... But I don't know if I ever used that Card with Melee. Can anyone out there confirm this rumor?

Ok, I have a new little mystery from Goldeneye 007. See, go to the Frigate level (the boat I think). Then, once your in there, try to explore every single room you can. In one of the rooms, you may look through a window with a locked door and see some men drinking coffee.

You can't be serious... Men drinking coffee? I'm sure that such a sight doesn't exist in the game. The only thing that comes close is a room where people are holding each other at gunpoint.

The first Perfect Dark took place in 2023, and was supposed to be Joanna Dark's first mission. The new PD takes place 3 years earlier, and is not in the storyline area. Is it a totally different game, or is it an out-of-line sequel.

A sequel that's six years in the making is bound to have some inconsistencies. Perhaps certain things needed to be changed in order to make the story more interesting. It's hard to create an interesting prequel involving an inexperienced secret agent... A whole game of training mode wouldn't be much fun, would it?

I was checking out some of the 'interesting stuff' for Smash Bros. on the site. Pretty interesting, I agree... Which leads me to a very humorous message that I received this summer while Smashin' some Bros.

- Chronofied

Just when I thought I'd seen everything in Melee, someone shows me something new. That's a bit of an odd milestone though. Just five short of 5,000 matches...
