Mailbag
Welcome to the Mailbag, where your questions
get answered... Or at least some of them, anyway. If you've got something
that hasn't been posted before, than this is where it can happen. Unanswered
questions is the main focus, but I receive practically everything, from
facts and findings, to codes and creations.

Smash
Hit
It seems as if many people decided to make a New Year's resolution
to play even more of Super Smash Bros Melee... Lots of Melee messages
make up the second Mailbag of 2006. As always, feel free to send
thoughts and discoveries to:

|

With
the arena not big enough for the two of them, one Charizard
tries to bite the head of another.
|
Whoa, I must say, I'm impressed with
what you've gathered in the member section. Some of those Melee
screens cracked me up too. Great!
Some of the
most entertaining SSBM screenshots can be found in the Members area.
As the most popular gamesite on Detstar, I tried to include as much
Melee stuff in there as possible.
One of my personal favorites, is the one with one Pokemon chowing
down on the other... It was taken during the creation of the Pokémon
Attacks page. The full-sized screens are so much better than the
shrunken down versions that were used on the website.

Hiya
I've been thinking about Super Smash Bros Melee a bit
and saw the new screenshots with Peach and Zelda without the dresses,
and thought that maybe you could remove ALL the ''loose'' parts. Things
like Marth/Roy's capes, Zelda/Peach's hair, or Link's hat. I'd like
to try it out myself, but I don't have an AR device, which really
sucks. And I thought it might be fun to experiment with.
It sounded like
something worth testing, so I gave it a shot to see what would happen...
It appears as if the capes and hats don't disappear the same way that
the gals' dresses do. Marth would be much less dignified if he didn't
have his cape flapping in the wind. |
I
want to see more screenshots of people in Timesplitters 2
especially R-109.
I'm happy to
fill your request, with a double shot of evil bots. |
On
the submitted screenshots in your SSBM section
of the site there is a submitted picture of a white Samus. You
said it was possible to do so using the debug menu with the
other weird colored colors above it. Is it the same way to do
so? how do you do it? And yes, I do have an action replay. |
That's
a good question... I played around with many of the different
texture options, but I couldn't seem to duplicate the white
texture seen in those screenshots. I'm sure that somebody reading
the Mailbag will be able to enlighten us. |

I've
noticed another little detail of Sheik in Super Smash Bros
Melee. When you select Zelda choose the Light Blue costume
(not the Dark Blue) when you transform into Sheik, her skin colour
will be of an Asian/Continental, however if you select any other
costume she will have a darker colour skin like that of a Black.
Yet Zelda herself still has a pale white complexion.
Yet another
little hidden detail in Melee. In addition to the skintone, the
"Eye of Truth" on Sheik's costume also appears in many
different colors.

Hello,
DetErest. Have you ever thought of creating a set Resident
Evil sub-sites? It's a great series to work on. Although
it took me half a year to purchase and clear each one of them. If
possible, I could mail them to you one-by-one (not including instruction
booklets and cases).
I'm constantly
receiving messages from people who request websites for practically
every video game series ever made... But this is the first time
anyone has actually been willing to supply me with the games that
they'd like to see featured. Although I really appreciate the gesture,
I simply don't have the time to begin conducting research on a series
like Resident Evil.
When I do decide to take on the challenge of another Detstar gamesite,
it will surely be dedicated to an upcoming game shortly after the
release.
Thanks
again for the offer though. Many individuals out there expect everything
and contribute nothing, but there are still a few good people in
the online world.

Sup
Det
Have u noticed how to get the most easiest time the SSBM
Event Match Seconds Anyone? If you choose Luigi and do his green
missile attack u will send captain falcon soaring in 67 milliseconds.
Luigi has to combust when the attack happens so he will hit cpt
falcon faster. Just keep restarting and keep doing the attack and
it'll work trust me on this one.
Hey, that's
pretty cool... Since Luigi's super missile (B+forward) attack is
random, it took about 9 tries before it worked for me. I was able
to pull off this trick in .87 seconds. Because you'll fail the match
if you take longer than 7 seconds, every second counts.

did
u kno that there iz uh lil dood peepin frum b-hind young link
wh'n u beat all star mode in SSBM 'n' it shows
the ending picture that be sayin' "congrat-ulations"
an' shit. who dat? serious.
I never
noticed this before, and I'm not sure what it is...
In some ways, it looks like Link. But with a bit of imagination,
it could also be a young Princess Zelda or even Malon...

Yo
Det, I read your Goldeneye Japanese version page and
I'm thinking of buying the game, would you suggest that I do. Also
what is the different between the two games besides the text.
Please write back. thanks!
From what I
understand, it's mostly just the text that's different, with only
a few minor changes to the actual game itself. |

Why
does Nintendo make the game Super Smash Bros Melee
and then create an Action replay? Wouldnt it be easier
(and cheaper) to make a special kind of disk that has all
the features so people wouldnt have to buy the action
replay just to use it on one game? Wouldnt it also be
cheaper for Nintendo?
It's important to realize that the
Action Replay cheat device is made by InterAct, and it's not
licensed, endorsed or supported by Nintendo...
It usually
pisses off the developers of a game when we mess around with
their games, and discover all kinds of really cool hidden
elements. And while Melee isn't the only game that can be
used with Action Replay, it's definitely one of the most entertaining.

why dont u have any perfect dark
game shark codes?
wat all u need to do is turn on ur
gameshark with goldeneye go down on the main menu to key codes then
go down to zelda then click A the it askes if u
have the game click yes the start up the gameshark with perfect
dark or zelda
I know it's only
a few extra steps, but I personally find it to be a bit of a pain
to have to keep swapping games in and out of the system just to test
and enter codes.... I also have Gameshark version 3.2, and version
3.3 is required before you can really start to have some fun messing
around with Perfect Dark. |

In
the mailbag, I saw the part about the Sudden Death tiebreaker
in Super Smash Bros Melee and how you can't
survive the bob-omb attack long enough to see if another different
attack occurs.
My friend and I found out a way to survive, but its only possible
with 2 people. We were both Ness and we accomplished this
in the Pokémon Stadium by taking cover the platforms
on each side of the stage and then one of us holds B-down
while the other uses the B attack on that person, and we do
that to eachother until we have 0% damage.
When the stage morphs, we just avoid the bombs as best we
can by rolling or jump-dodging and hide under the low platform
for water, the lowest platform attached to the steep cliff
for earth, the low wooden platform for grass, and inside the
burning house for fire. We survived for maybe half and hour
before one of us finally died, but nothing new happened.
That's some real dedication to test
the game and its' limits... You guys must have had some serious
time to kill. I wasn't sure if anything else would happen
after the Bob-ombs started falling, but the game's developers
probably figured that no one would manage survive that long
anyway.

Why don't video game companies
send demos of upcoming games to Detstar? You guys could have
previews which would basically be free advertising for the games!
We'd get to see games before they come out, and they'd sell
more copies! Everybody wins!!!
Although there are a few lucky gaming
networks that get to see free demos, I don't think Detstar will
ever be one of them. Even though there's tons of content that
fans can't get enough of, this isn't exactly a model website
that video game companies would want to be associated with.
I reveal secrets that we're really not supposed to know. And
in addition to the occasional bits of course language, I also
tell things like they are... Unfortunately,
reality is something that's completely unacceptable in an age
where political correctness has infected the entire planet...
Besides, Detstar isn't a big company with a dedicated staff...
It's a one-man operation, with no publicist to keep the twisted
& warped webmaster on the safe side of public relations. |
I
want to see a picture of Donkey Kong killing the hand.
The actual moment of death for Master
Hand happens so quickly, that I missed the opportunity to snap
a screenshot. I did take a few shots during the battle though,
so here's one with DK bashing the crap out of that big ol hand. |
