A
thousand monkeys working at a thousand computers, all sorting Detstar's
e-mail (and some of them possibly surfing for monkey porn)... At
least that's how the future will be, anyway. It'll also open up
a world where janitors no longer clean the floors, but have to clean
the walls and ceilings as well...
The monkeys themselves
can only sort mail, and can't actually send replies themselves...
Always typing random gibberish, telling players that eating more
bananas will help to complete a difficult level, or pulling their
ears and scream-dancing frantically for attention.
Luckily, we still have a human to reply to messages - Although he's
a cynical webmaster who should probably be wearing a straight jacket
in a room with padded walls... But hell, they'll never take me alive.

In Goldeneye's Multiplayer, how
come all the tables crates and computers and the kitchen from the bunker
are taken out?
Lots of little things like furniture and other items in the one player mode
are just for background detail. But in Multiplayer, the game needs as much
memory as possible. In order to speed up the framerate and save memory,
detail objects are often removed when playing Multiplayer.

Hello,
you're doing a very good job with this interesting Super Smash
Bros Melee site. I like the mix of facts, fun and so on.
I want to know how to K.O. a Paratroopa, a friend of mine has the
game and has already tried the Bob-Omb, the Homerun Bat and I think
also the hammer, but every time the Paratroopa only loses his wings
and that isn“t a K.O. Can you tell me which item or move to use
in order to K.O. a Paratroopa?
Knock
the Paratroopa's wings off to start, and follow him to the ground.
Once you've taken away his flight, just grab him with 'Z' and toss
him aside. Only throwing him seems to count as a KO, even though
your kicks and punches will destroy him.

Hi there. You know, I've read EVERYTHING regarding
both Perfect Dark and Goldeneye. But one question still lurks. What are
the websites from Perfect Dark for? I mean carringtoninstitute.com
and datadyne.com. They can´t be accessed, and some time ago I was
redirected to the Nintendo main page. Can you explain me their purpose,
and how to access them?
Those two websites were created by Nintendo for marketing purposes. It was the hope of the Perfect Dark team to include a username and password inside the game, that way players could go online and log into the website to find out more information... But this feature was never implemented, for unknown reasons...
There was indeed a username and password earned by reaching the 'Perfect'
rank in PD's Combat Simulator... But it didn't work on either website. In
fact, that infamous username and password was actually useless. Two completely
separate usernames and passwords did work though... With these logins, you
were able to venture further into the websites, and find data about recovered
Skedar bodies, and files about members of the Carrington Institute. It wasn't
incredibly useful, but it was definitely an interesting supplement for PD
fans.
But now with Microsoft buying the shares of Rareware, it appears as if Nintendo
has replaced the Carrington Institute and dataDyne websites with redirects
to their own homepage. I guess they just don't want to be bothered with
these websites anymore.
In Super Smash Bros Melee, I heard
there were characters named 'Koopa' or 'Purin'... Are they in the game?
There certainly are, but probably not what you're expecting... Koopa and
Purin are just the Japanese names for Bowser and Jigglypuff. If you go into
the game's options menu and change the language to Japanese, Bowser and
Jigglypuff will become Koopa and Purin.

I was reading the information about the Dam's island on the Goldeneye
website... What is "no clipping" what does it do and is there a
button code for it? Also is their ANY way to get to the island in
dam without Gameshark/action replay?
No, there aren't any button codes to let you reach the Dam's secret
island. A trip to the island wasn't even supposed to occur in the
final game, actually... You need game enhancers (Gameshark/Action
Replay) to change the way the game actually thinks - With the No
Clipping code on, you're able to leave the boundaries of a level.
In the case of the Dam mission, you can pass through the invisible
barrier on the docks, and float across the water and check out the
distant island.

Hey... I just wanted to say you have a great website and Super
Smash Bros Melee is a great game. Your website has like
everything you need to know about the game. Keep up the work with
the great web page.
Kirby dance: <(*_*)> <(*_*<) (>*_*)> (>*_*<) <(*_*)<
Sorry couldn't resist ......(Yes I know I'm strange)
There's tons of stuff to do in Melee, so the website is a good reference
tool for players...
Kirby might be a well rounded individual, but bad things happen
when he does that little dance of his...

Dear DetErest,
I must say that your site is supreme not only in terms of its Goldeneye
content, but with its other coverage, as well. As an educated individual,
it pleases me to come to a website where my intellectual curiosity both
as a human being and as a Goldeneye fan are constantly stimulated. You probably
don't need me to tell you this, but your Beta coverage is... well, perfect.
No matter how many times I've searched the net for comparable information,
I have always been lead back here because, in the end, this is the only
website that matters as far as Beta information is concerned. And the other
Goldeneye content? If I valued this website as a whole at $1 Googlion, I
still would be undervaluing it (you may not agree with this, but I assure
you it is true). Truly, you are the Jesus of the Goldeneye world, and I
use that comparison with complete and total understanding.
I personally make it an effort to devote 2.5 hours of my time at work to
examine your website (which is a better use of my brain, make no mistake
about it). You are #1 in the minds of any person with a brain, and you will
one day depose those other void sites and claim your throne as God of the
gaming site world. Until then, my organization and I will continue to support
you and your endeavors in any way we can. Please continue doing such a great
job. You, indeed, kick some serious fucking ass!
Of all the stuff
featured on the Goldeneye website, the "beta" content is probably
the most interesting material hardcore Goldeneye fans. I really enjoyed
compiling all that information, adding more info as new things were discovered.
An incredible amount of time and effort went into the Goldeneye site,
and visitors always comment on how much time they've spent browsing.
It's good to hear
that you're enjoying the Goldeneye experience at work, instead of filing
boring reports and such...

Just wanted to submit a comment on your F-Zero GX
site, which I thought was very entertaining and ambitious! Really
fun to see projects like the maximum speed and to see some different
machines. I am personally in love with the game at this moment and
its fun to see a site which seems to enjoy it as much as I am!
Thanks. I was hoping that players would
enjoy checking out that jump ramp experiment. I'm partway through
another speed project, which will be posted in a future update.
F-Zero GX sure is an awesome game, and there's tons of fun to be
had with it. Keep on racing!

About your
Goldeneye 007 video clip, It's clear that you haven't actually done
facility in 1:43 - you've just > taken large chunks of frames out of the
video - it's very jerky. And the > fact that you don't show the finishing
screen at the end (where the game > tells you how long you took and your
accuracy etc). > > so a big :p to you sir.
The Goldeneye website was created to show players all sorts of hidden secrets
and extras found inside the game. The site also gives tips on how to beat
missions, as well as other strategies. In this case, it's a recorded strategy
of completing the Facility level fast enough to earn the Invincible cheat
- And I assure you that the video clip is authentic.
When making the video, I recorded at the lowest possible quality to make
the file smaller, making it easier to download. This of course results in
a very rough and choppy video clip, with a low frame rate. The purpose of
the video wasn't to make it pretty though - It's just to show one of the
best and methods for beating the Facility quickly.
I watched the file on my computer, and it does show the finishing screen
with the final time. Because of the low quality, it is hard to actually
read the finishing time. But if you look closely, you can just barely see
the completion time. It is indeed 1:43, although the '3' is rather hard
to read.

What is the best character and kart combo to use in Mario
Kart Double Dash?
The best combination really depends on
what you're looking for...
I chose the lightweight Koopas for the big GP races because of their
acceleration and special item (triple shells). And now that I've
unlocked King Boo, I use him because of his random special item.
I also choose Boo's Kart, because it has good acceleration for a
heavy kart.
But try different characters, and see who fits your playing style.
Lots of choices, plenty of creative combinations.

Hello. I was just wondering if you had any additional tips for Super
Smash Bros Melee on how to clear event Match #29 [Triforce
Gathering] that aren't mentioned in your great site. I really need
some help with it. I cleared the match, but when I went to face
Ganon I lost. I want to unlock him really bad. Do you have any tips
on beating him? I would highly appreciate it. Thanks. P.S. Thanks
for taking the time to read this and thanks for the awesome site.
It helped me alot.
Link is one of my favorite characters,
so I always do well with him.
One trick I use regardless of where I'm playing or who I'm playing
against, is the constant boomerang... I'm always hitting my opponents
with it, and then immediately rushing in for a good hit, whether
it's a spin attack, an aerial down+A sword plant, or a charged up
forward smash where link takes two slashes of his sword. Hitting
an enemy with the boomerang or bow and arrow doesn't do much damage,
but it just opens up an opportunity to jump in there with a more
powerful attack (or even two or three powerful attacks).
Also in the Hyrule Temple, try not to get lured down to the bottom
level. It's can be tough to KO someone down there, so you could
have Ganondorf with an insane amount of damage, but not be able
to finish him off. Try and keep your battle to the top level, and
keep smashing Ganondorf to either the left or right edge of the
arena.

Hi. I want to know if there will be a new James
Bond game from Rareware, because of what it says at the end of the Goldeneye
007: ("James Bond will return").
That bit about "James Bond will return" is just a standard ending scene
thing for 007... That same line is featured at the end of many Bond movies.
Goldeneye 007 also tells us that Bond will return, but it's a bit of a technicality...
Bond has since been back in action in 3 movies, and 3 games by Electronic
Arts... But the text at the end of the game doesn't actually say that "James
Bond will return in a video game by Rareware"... So, they got us with that
one.

In
Super Smash Bros Melee, if you turn the Samus without
helmet trophy around, does it show her face?
With this special trophy you can catch
a rare glimpse at Samus without her mask. This trophy can't be "earned"
in North America though... It can only be accessed with an Action
Replay codes.
