Mailbag
Welcome to the Mailbag, where your questions
get answered... Or at least some of them, anyway. If you've got something
that hasn't been posted before, than this is where it can happen. Unanswered
questions is the main focus, but I receive practically everything, from
facts and findings, to codes and creations.

Hot
on the outside, cool on the inside...
The summer sun makes it too hot to be outdoors... But being
stuck outside working like a slave does have a few benefits: There's
plenty of exercise & fresh air, plus the exciting chance of
getting sun stroke to get out early... Fortunately the latter didn't
happen, but I finally managed to put together another edition of
the Mailbag.
The upcoming Smash Bros Brawl slated for 2007 is an exciting topic,
as are unique observations or mysteries about Goldeneye 007 and
Super Smash Bros Melee. If you've got something that should be posted
here, you know what to do:

I
have seen screenshots (of Super Smash Bros Brawl)
that show Samus without her suit. I think this will be cool but
will they still have the regular samus from the first two games?
According
to Nintendo, we'll be able to play as both variations of Samus.
Whenever Samus wears her heavy suit of armor, she has slower movement.
Zero Suit Samus will be faster on her feet, and likely have a better
jumping ability. She'll also have different weapons when she's not
wearing her spacesuit.
It's not entirely clear if the game will treat her as a separate
character, or whether she'll undergo a mid-game morph, similar to
how Zelda transforms into Sheik...

Hey,
I have a question to ask you, in a section of your Goldeneye
007 website you say that the shotgun can be obtained
in the Caverns. I have searched for it and I cannot find it,
I noticed that Trevelyan has it but I cannot kill him even
without countless explosions and golden gun shots to the head
(with the all guns, infinite ammo, and invisible cheats).
Is there an actual way to get the shotgun in the caverns level?
|
Shotgun
in the caverns... Had to think about that one for a minute.
Heavily armored guards with shotguns will appear at the end
of the mission, if you're foolish enough to stick around instead
of escaping through the elevator. Even if you've killed every
single guard in the mission, more of them will appear in the
dark and eerie underground, armed with shotguns and RC-P90s....
There's even one guard who has a pair of RC-P90s... With 160
rounds at his disposal, he's easily the most dangerous guard
in the game... And also a bit of an explanation for why completing
the Caverns in record time will net you the 2x RC-P90s cheat. |

While
using the Debug Menu (in Super Smash Bros Melee),
is it possible to get a K.O. on the Home-Run Contest Arena?
|
Whenever
you're using the debug menu to battle in the Homerun Contest,
you can still score KO's... But as you may have guessed, it's
much more difficult than on a standard arena.
In this screenshot, our "volunteer" is just barely
visible off in the distance... He soard incredibly high after
getting cracked with the bat, and he's crashing back down again. |
I
don't think it's possible to KO a foe horizontally in the Homerun
Contest... Your opponent seems to fly forever until you manage
to score enough damage to send them flying upwards until they
hit the upper limits of the sky. |

Solid
Snake in Super Smash Bros Brawl? That's
ridiculous! How dare they insert such an awesome character,
who exherts at stealth kills and difficult missions,
in a world of rainbows and pink characters. First, I
would like to know what influenced them to insert him
in the game--were they able to reason at the time. Oh,
well...If they thought it would be funny, then I guess
I've lost all sense in understanding adult humor.
BTW. Do you have any pictures
with Snake in action with any other SSB character?
No offense though. I do
love SSBM, and I do love Metal
Gear Solid.
It's
definitely quite strange, considering that Nintendo
has never included a third party character in a Smash
Bros game before... Solid Snake becomes the first one
with his scheduled appearance in Super Smash Bros Brawl.
The reason to include Solid Snake is likely just to
create a bit of a splash, and maybe draw some Metal
Gear fans into the new Smash Bros game. Apparently,
several different companies tried to negotiate deals
with Nintendo to feature their characters in the next
Super Smash Bros game, because of just how popular
the series has become...

Heya
Do you remember the Master Hands strategy you put up? (Super
Smash Bros Melee) It's a pretty cool guide. Though I use another
character + move to beat them. Try Yoshi, and use his Flutter Kick
attack (Aerial + down A). It does pretty much damage. I used this
technique the first time I beat them. (Also, when they move away from
you for some reason, his eggs are good too.)
I remember writing
that special Member feature... After all, it was just a couple weeks
ago.
Yoshi's flutter kick can score up to 43 hits per attack, which is
really useful for hurting the hands. Although maximizing the timing
of his attacks can be a bit tricky, Yoshi is another great option
if you're not used to DK or Ganondorf.
One disadvantage for Yoshi though, is the fact that he lacks a triple
jump... And it's always helpful to have a jumping ability to recover
when the hands thrash you around, which is why I personally prefer
the other two characters. |

I
would like to know if the Legend of Zelda The Twilight Princess
is real
The game is definitely real, slated to
be released for Christmas 2006... In a unique twist, it appears
as if the game will be released BOTH for the Nintendo GameCube and
for the Nintendo Wii...

Hey
Det! I have few doubts about the Debug Menu of the SSBM:
1) With the Debug Develop Mode actived,
how I can fight if all buttons have a different command?
2) Do the Wire Frames have special combos?
3) I saw a code in the Arcentral.com, it allows the Dummy arena
to in the game, and not freeze the game. I dont have Action Replay,
how is this arena?
4) It´s possible get those trophies, Mario & Yoshi, Samus
Unmasked, and the other without the AR?
Hey, I like
your style.... Four numbered questions, very easy to answer.
1) The features
of the debug menu are done using weird button combos that you wouldn't
use for fighting... Suck as holding the L trigger, and pressing
down on the control pad. The only thing that screws up is when you
taunt... Pressing up on the control pad causes the camera to zoom
in, so you have to press taunt again to zoom back out so you can
see what's going on.
2) The wire
frame characters don't have combos, or special B-button attacks.
They run and jump, and can perform all the basic standard attacks
and aerial attacks. For your info, the attacks and movement of the
male wireframe are based on Ganondorf, while the female wireframe
is based on Zelda.
3) A non-crashing
dummy test level is news to me... Could you possibly send a link
to the code?
4) As far
as I know, you can't get those special trophies without an Action
Replay. There was a special contest in Japan where a few lucky players
were able to have these trophies enabled on their memory cards.

Why
is there already pictures of the new super smash bros.
game if its no where near being out yet?
A great
game isn't created overnight... It takes years to develop a
game that's actually worth playing. This smashing new project
has been underway since 2005, slated for completion some time
in 2007. |
Dear
DetStar,
I love the detail in the background
of Episode 6 of Agent Marley. I'm pretty sure
that is Inspector Gadget trying to attack "The Claw",
right?
I spent
almost as much time creating the backgrounds as I did making
the characters... It was mainly for my own entertainment, but
it's cool when other people notice the finer details.
You would be correct in your observation about Inspector Gadget
and "The Claw". I really don't know how I came up
with that idea... I was just designing the backgrounds, and
I thought a claw machine would be an unusual thing to throw
in there.
My mind quickly jumped to Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget, and
I thought it would be fun to show a somewhat incompetent agent
frantically playing the claw machine...I even included Dr. Claw's
cat as one of the prizes in the machine. |
Are
there any characters you want to see in Super Smash Brothers
Brawl? Just curious, I have been asking alot of my friends
who are fans and I was wondering If you had someone who would like
to be in it.
Although it appears as if the character roster
has already been chosen, I'm glad to see that they included Wario...
He's been a bit of a fan favorite ever since Mario Kart 64 and Mario
Party, and his evil nature will hopefully add a comical twist.
As for my personal picks, there are a few charcters that I wouldn't
mind seeing...
How about a head-bashing, neck-biting Fire Brother?
Krystal Fox with her hands wrapped around a staff?
A menacing Morton Koopa Junior breaking out of his shell?
Or maybe even the Koopa magician Kamek with a bag of tricks? |
