It's Monday, and you should be acting like you're hard at work on an assignment while you secretly surf the net for random bits of entertainment... Coincidentally, the Detstar Mailbag was invented for that very same reason. As always, I've answered questions and granted a few requests.

Dear Mr. Det,

Have you ever heard of the Black Hole Glitch (in Super Smash Bros Melee)?!
Items and character you throw in might not come out...

It's a glitch that creates a floating blob of shapes that when you touch it your damage could be 999%

This glitch is real. I thought it was a prank until I saw this video on youtube:

The aptly named "Black Hole" glitch is quite possibly one of the most bizarre discoveries in the entire game.

The game slows down, as the black hole absorbs any item thrown into it. The damage to a character who falls in unreal...

I can only assume that the glitch was uncovered by accident, by players trying to overload the game with items and make it crash...

I am a fan of your (Goldeneye 007) site, and I wanted to take note of one thing. One thing, for your single-player pics of the guards and other characters with random faces in multiplayer, the faces you got were all accurate to the multiplayer faces, except for the Russian Commandant. The Commandant you took a picture of had Robin's face, and the Commandant is supposed to have Martin's face. I'm surprised nobody acknowledged that yet.

And also it's funny that you talk about how you should just be able to massacre the scientists, since they work for the bad guys and pull
guns on you and stuff, although I don't think the scientists are evil, they're just regular scientists doing everyday science work, they don't know that the dudes around them are evil, but I see where you're coming from.

The seven years of 007 was also good, lol the office paintball turned homicide investigation case, and the guard about to be caught in a huge box explosion in the archives.

How about the picture of Bond shooting a soldier with the shotgun and it says beside the picture, "Knock, knock, who's there?" Anyway, I enjoy your site,
keep it updated.

You're right about that guard's face... In seven years, I hadn't even noticed. I'm actually surprised that someone caught it... Sure, I was obsessive enough to match up the heads and bodies, but I figured that most people wouldn't take a second glance... Good eye.

The odds of getting the game to load with the correct faces is mind boggling, and but I managed to do it before I ever owned a gameshark. But I obviously used GS codes for this correction photo.

And I just can't help torturing scientists... It's a weakness of mine.

Maybe you're just high on Holy Water... The beard, hair and nose don't look much like Marley's...
But since the drawings were done using the same style, there's bound to be a slight resemblance.

I noticed the page of the (Super Smash Bros Melee) japanese differences on your website. I like to change the game to this misunderstood version, I was playing adventure mode and I beat Fox in the first battle. Then the three arwings came up and Falco, Slippy, and Peppy were speaking japanese, along with unenglish subtitles. I discovered that you didn't put this up on the page, so I told you my findings.

I love this game!

I may have mentioned the Japanese dialogue for the Starfox wingmen at some point in time, but I can't find it anywhere... That a sign that the website has too many pages - Even the webmaster can't find stuff.

(Note: Another software glitch prevented me from capturing an actual snapshot of Slippy, Peppy, Fox or Falco... And at 2:00 in the morning, I've got bigger problems. If this happens again, I'm gonna hunt down Gates, and put a bullet in his head)

Just thought you might like to include in your (Goldeneye 007) Aztec walkthrough, that it is possible to complete the Aztec level without facing Jaws. Here's a speed run I found as proof:

This guy was NOT cheating. I tried it and it works.

That's awesome. Seems like it exploits the glitch where guards will occasionally open doors as they search for you. It normally happens when you're Invisible, but attracting tons of attention then hiding, one of the guards inadvertently activates the door door as he runs by looking for 007...

All Bond has to do is listen for the door to be opened, then jump out of hiding to dash in and uploads the guidance data. Ingenious.

hey whats up dude, I was surfing the net, and I came across your site, its pretty cool and i was mostly interested in your Smash section, I went to the tournament section of you site, but had only listed 1 tournament, was wondering if you had any upcoming tournaments down here in Miami FL or if you could maybe let people know about my aim r4wguy to see if they wanted to meet and play some smash, also if you wanted to check some out or maybe post some videos or even add a section in your site where people could show off their skills that would be cool, if anything I have 6 videos right now on youtube here are some.

There aren't a ton of Smash tournaments, unfortunately. There's only a handful of really big tournaments each year, but I'm going to try and promote a few if I can find them.

And a page where people submit some of their best videos sounds like a good idea... Anything more than a few minutes though just doesn't fit into my schedule. I've seen some amazing battles on YouTube... The action in that Shiek/Roy fight is pretty entertaining.

Hi. I would like to see a shot of mr.game & watch beside celebi (in Super Smash Bros Melee). Also, can you really unlock boo, or is it just a fake thing? Ugh, i hate it when people do that! So, can you help me out on this?

Game & Watch fans frequently remind me that there isn't enough coverage for him on the site... So here's a nifty little shot of him and Celebi.

As for the image of King Boo, it's a fake, just like you guessed. I wonder how tricky it would be to fight a ghost...
