F-Zero GX: Fastest Machines

Aside from the speeds that can be reached by boosting and jumping, just what is the all out racing speed of each machine and who's the fastest? I was eager to find out, so I set up a little "test drive" for each vehicle. I was kinda surprised by my findings, especially with some of the racers being faster than I expected...

The track used for this speed test was Cosmo Terminal: Trident. This course has many relatively straight stretches, making it easier to truly reach the maximum speed potential with each craft. All machines can exceed 1000km/h though, while a handful can surpass 1100km/h.

To try and be as accurate as possible, all machines were optimized for maximum speed on the settings screen before the test drive. Since the Trident course doesn't have any really sharp turns to slow you down, speed can really be an asset on this track.

Here, I'm piloting the Big Fang which ranked near the top leaders in this speed experiment. While you're driving on any track, using the L & R buttons to drift actually slows you down. Instead, steady movements of the control stick can control your machine and prevent it from losing speed. So of course for this speed test, I used the control stick with L & R being used as little as possible.

The king of the speed demons was none of than the Black Bull, piloted by the evil lord Black Shadow. Some of the machines were tough to test, particularly the heavier ones like the Black Bull and Fat Shark. Their slow acceleration means they need a long stretch of track before they reach their maximum speed.
