F-Zero GX: Secret Parts

Written by DetErest

Building your own custom racer in GX's garage mode adds tons of extra fun to the game. You can accumulate quite a number of parts for your custom racer by unlocking them in the one player mode. But there are a bunch of completely 'new' parts hidden deep within your game that we're not supposed to have access to...

Using an Action Replay code, it's possible to gain access to extra parts that weren't intended for GX players in North America. These parts are in the game's memory, dormant, and just waiting to be discovered and taken out onto the track.

Most of them were apparently for players during special promo events in Japan, while three of these parts (a body, booster, and cockpit) can be unlocked with a link to F-Zero AX. By taking your memory card to the F-Zero Arcade, you could take home the parts needed to build the Bahamut racing machine... But now you can get the parts to build the Bahamut with Action Replay.

The early racing parts you unlock are green, while the later ones are red and pink. But all of these extra parts are yellow. Of course once you buy them you can change the color to whatever you like, and mix them up to create a machine that fits your style.

For tips on building your machine, check out the Garage Mode page.
Have a look at some of our own racing creations on the Custom Racers page.

Special Machines
When you create an F-Zero machine in Garage Mode, your machine's name is usually a lengthy string of names and part numbers based on the parts you've chosen. But if you mix and match the machine parts just right, your racer will be given a special name. Here are a few 'Special' machines that can be created with these secret parts:

Bahamut
B Body: Mad Bull
D Booster: Mars-EX
A Cockpit: Crazy Buffalo
This racer was mentioned above, but it's shown here with a dark red paint job. The destructive Bahamut is quite similar to the Black Bull piloted by Black Shadow. Just like the Bull, the Bahamut has excellent grip and a weak boost. But a good body combined with it's weight makes a great vehicle for smashing enemy machines.
Providence
B Body: Metal Shell
D Booster: Mars-EX
B Cockpit: Hyper Stream
A modified version of my "Metal Cyclone-J" from avove. I was doing some testing, trying to improve my existing machine by trading my parts around. In the process, I discovered another 'Special' machine. It's a well balanced craft, aside from the weak booster. It has a much better grip than my "Metal Cyclone-J" though.
Gladiator
E Body: Galaxy Falcon
A Booster: Hornet-FX
D Cockpit: Rush Cyclone
I'm not sure what's so special about this machine... It has a tough name, but also has weak attributes. It's possible to master the handing of a 'D' grip machine though, and it's quite a racer with that excellent booster.
