TimeSplitters Future Perfect: MapMaker Guide
Map Settings

Written by Briton

The map settings will let you decide many different aspects of your map. These can be accessed by pressing start when you are making your map and clicking on the "Map Settings" button. Kind of obvious really. In the Map Settings you will see various headings such as Theme which you can use to select what your map will look like, sound like, what the sky will be and a few other things.

Theme

Lab: Presumably based on the Story Missions with Amy Chen in, the Lab theme has a futuristic look to it and is also quite similar to Military. The Lab has many pipes in it, meaning that you can shoot them to let out air. The windows are also exceedingly wide, meaning that you can create lab areas like the ones from Facility in Goldeneye.

Egyptian: Egyptian is probably the most detailed of the map themes, with weird symbols around the place, pillars and all kinds of Egyptian architecture. Oddly enough the doors are automatic, which is kind of odd considering that they were built a few thousand years ago. The lighting is pretty fantastic. The windows are also pretty big.

Military: Military seems to have been themed around a military bunker, although not the one featured in TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. If you want an underground mission this is probably the one to pick. The numbers on the walls give a good sense of different sectors, plus the items that you can put in such as the sandbags are good for defense. It may looks simple, but it works well with most kinds of levels.

Horror: This is pretty weird. The settings are pretty dark, and in some of the tiles there are some very strange markings on the walls. This is a good setting for a mission, as the music and scenery really add to the tension. All in all, this is a pretty good theme.

Virtual: This theme is pretty bland. It is simply a mix of reds and blue-greens, making levels hard to navigate for those who do not know the levels off by heart. The car looks pretty cool though.

Spawn Sounds

This allows you to turn the sounds that play when you respawn after being killed on or off.

Sky

This means that you can change the sky to a different type, and also make the level indoor if you choose.

Weather

Only available if you have an outdoor level, you can change the weather to Rain, Storm, and Snow or just leave it as normal.

Disable Modes

With this you can choose which modes that you can play on the map. Some modes you will need special items for, while most you just need guns and respawn points.
Story:
Game logic for Story.
Assault:
Game logic for Assault.
Capture the Bag:
Two Bag bases, plus blue and red team start points.
Zones:
Different Zones placed around the map.
Bagtag:
The Bag you use for Bagtag placed on the map.

Edit Map Description

Here you can type in a short description of the map that will be displayed after you load a map, just so can remember which one is which. For example, when I made the Bunker map from Goldeneye I wrote "Goldeneye Remake".

Briefing

This is only required for Story missions, and you have to basically outline what the mission is to the player. For example: "It looks like Crow is at it again. Fight your way into the bunker, steal the Blue Key card and collect the Crystals from the safe. Kill Crow if you get the chance, and dispatch all the TimeSplitters."
